What are Tuscany’s Best Wines?
There’s no doubt that one of the things Tuscany is most famous for its variety of delicious, traditional wines. And if you plan to visit this beautiful part of Italy any time soon, you may be curious about which ones you have to try.
Tuscany has a long history with producing fine wines – and this is one of the main reasons why this beverage is so important to the region. Even if you’re not an expert, wine tasting should surely be on your list of things to do during your stay.
This alone makes this region the perfect destination for fans of luxury. Most wine connoisseurs will want to ensure that they get a taste of all the greatest wines the region has to offer.
These are:
Tignanello 2015
This was one of the few wines that made the Super Tuscan genre of wine popular across the globe in 1975. This is because it was the first modern Italian red wine to be blended with non-traditional grapes. This drink is mostly a combination of Sangiovese, Carbernet Sauvignon and Carbernet Franc.
The fact it is one of the region’s finest shouldn’t come as much of a surprise though, as it was made by the Antinori family – who’ve been in the business for 6 centuries and are still going strong.
Castello di Nipozzano Montesodi 2012
A 100% Sangiovese wine, the Castello di Nipozzano Montesodi is a must-try for anyone visiting the Chianti region in Tuscany. Many would agree that it’s one of the best in the area, since it comes from the Frescobaldi family – who have 6 estates in Tuscany and have been the leaders in Chianti for around 700 years.
Sassicaia 2015
Sassicaia was the first Super Tuscan wine – and it paved the way for the many modern blended wines when it exploded into popularity in 1968. This alone makes it a must-try for any fans of this particular type of wine, or anyone who considers themselves to be a wine connoisseur. Predominantly, it’s made of Cabernet Sauvignon and it has an interesting flavour indeed.
Castello di Ama L’Apparita
This is another one of those wines that’s a must-try for any wine lovers out there. This drink is the work of several families who had set out to restore Ama to its former prestige by creating a number of top-tier wines. Alongside this, there’s also the fact that it’s Tuscany’s first wine made purely of Merlot.
Named after a small hamlet in the Tuscan hills, this drink has certainly made its creators proud, being one of the most delicious wines in the region.
