The Stunning Landscapes of Tuscany

It’s no secret that Tuscany is home to some truly spectacular landscapes – and many come to this region just for its beauty. When thinking of this part of Italy, most will picture rolling hills, endless countryside and cypress trees, but you’re likely to find that it has plenty more to offer.

Where to visit

Val d’Orcia

The vast and wonderful countryside of Val d’Orcia is famous for being one of the most breathtaking places in Tuscany – and you’re sure to find that it’s easy to get lost in the beauty. The giant cypress trees, wide verdant hills and vibrant colours are all things that make this valley so incredible.

Val d’Orcia is often considered to be at its finest in spring – as this is when you’ll see the beautiful bright green colours that this location is so well known for. In summer and autumn, you’re likely to find that while the valley is still as beautiful, the colours will instead better reflect the changing vistas of the seasons.

Apuan Alps

The Tuscan countryside is incredibly well known – and while beautiful locations like the Apuan Alps aren’t nearly as famous, they’re still a fantastic sight to see.

Most would agree that they feel rather out of place in the Mediterranean climate of Tuscany, especially as the mountain tops shine and glitter in the sunlight. While most assume this to be snow, it’s actually due to a unique white powder that comes from the marble caves located in the area itself.

The quarries are also spectacular too; Michelangelo himself frequented these to choose which marble he would use to make his statues.

Chianti’s landscapes

You’re sure to find countless vineyards and olive groves in the beautiful Chianti region. Visitors tend to come for the many authentic wineries and the amazing beverages they produce, but the stunning hills and valleys only help to make a visit to this location so much more special.

Scores of holidaymakers would agree that no trip to Tuscany is complete without a visit to Chianti; whether it’s for the wine, or the area’s stunning countryside.

Elba Island

The Maritime National Park, located in the Tuscan Archipelago, is made up of seven stunning islands. While you won’t be able to visit all of them, you may want to consider checking out Elba Island, which is the biggest and easiest to reach.

The beautiful flora, green hills and vineyards are all magnificent sights – but you may find that they come second to the stunning views of the sea. There are also picturesque villages here, which make for awe-inspiring tourist destinations.
